Cannot convert to mp3

Postby Schtroumpf » 23 Dec 2013 11:00

Hi,

I saw it was already reported for mp4 -> mp3 conversion. I want to confirm conversion from FLV or Wav file -> mp3 also fails.

I tested it with VLC Versions 2.1.1-32, 2.1.2-32 and 2.1.2-64.

When Convert - > audio-mp3 is choosen, the "Encapsulation method" is WAV, I checked that only "Audio Codec" page is checked and Codec is mp3 , 128 kb/s, 44100 Hz

If a "Destination filename" is entered in the "Convert" form and the "Browse" button is clicked, the file extension is turned to ".wav" and the whole filename is not copied in the "save dialog" form that opens.

When back to "Convert" form,
- if the extention is leaved as ".wav", a click on "Start" writes a WAV file that works (with wave content : RIFFxxxxWAVEfmt header)

- if the extension is changed to mp3, V2.1.1 write a few bytes truncated file (that obviously does not work  ), V2.1.2 rename it to .wav and write a correct wav file (but no mp3 !).

BTW, Merry Christmas to all people here !
