VLC and DVD copies

Hello,

I am very impressed with VLC, my group uses it and me to project environmental type DVDs.

My computer is a Mac and it will quickly duplicate a DVD to the hard drive as data, which VLC can render onto a screen.

Will you recommend a software and technique to make a new playable DVD? I have permission from the maker as long as I am not making money doing it.
