2.1.1 Major Audio problems

Postby carlgooden » 18 Nov 2013 01:19

Hello, after VLC 2.1.1 update I'm having lots of problems with audio sound. I never had this problem before, I'm using native instruments audio 4 Dj sound card. so all sound goes threw that card to my audio system and it was working good for many years. after update i can use only laptop speakers to hear vlc sounds, otherwise it says that my card needs a set up because vlc can play only stereo, but my card is set up to stereo and still vlc its not working,
what should I do ?

Are you sure that your settings in "Audio-Midi-Setup" program are correct?

It would be great if you can download the nightly build below and report if audio is working for you again if the external sound card?

I too have been having drop outs of audio, but not only in 2.1.1, but 2.1.0 and 2.0.8 as well. I've had an iMac for 2 months, and for the first 4 weeks audio was fine in all versions of VLC. Then suddenly the drop-outs started, and doesn't seem to matter what version of VLC I use.

Other players do not experience the drop outs when playing the same files.

The only bit of software that I could identify as being installed at the time the drop outs started was EyeTv from Elgato. I tried uninstalling it, but it made no difference.

I'm using other players until this problem gets sorted. Not that many people talking about it on OSX and 2.1.1 though. Not sure if it's just my system or everyone has a similar issue.

Did you tested the nightly build I just posted above? If not, please do so, this should fix audio dropouts.

I tried the latest build, my surround channels are mapping to the wrong speakers in the release version of 2.1.1 as well as the latest build.

v2.0.8 maps the surround channels perfectly

If you extract the zip file, you will find a VLC.app within, which you just need to start on your Mac.

This is unrelated to the audio failure reported here. Please open a new thread, and give more information about your setup. Especially, how the channels are mapped in detail would be interesting.
