Can't play WMV, not corrupted, reproducible

I have WMV files that are playing with

Version 1.1.10 The Luggage (Intel 64bit)
Compiled by fpk with llvm-gcc 4.2.1 (Based on Apple Inc. build 5658) (LLVM build 2335.6)

but will not play with the latest version

Version 2.1.0 Rincewind (Intel 64bit)
Compiled by fpk with clang 4.2 (clang-425.0.28)

I am running both on Mac 10.9.0.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

This issue will be resolved in version 2.1.1 very soon from now. Sorry for any inconvenience. For the meantime, please continue to use version 2.0.8 or 2.0.9 (the latter being released very soon this week).

I have a similar problem on 10.6.8, but VLC 2.1.1 did not resolve it. The files will not play on anything more recent than 2.0.8.

Is there anything I can do to help troubleshoot this issue?

Just to clarify:
• Actual playback time on VLC >2.0.8: less than a second.
• Actual playback time on 2.0.8: 1:08.

On >2.0.8, if there are multiple files in the playlist, it's just skipped entirely. If it's the only thing in the list and repeat is on, VLC thrashes away, but seems to play a second or two.

Testing the WMV fixes in 2.1.2 (referenced in the changelog on MacUpdate, and in the above ticket). Still can't play certain WMV's, including the one submitted for testing and reference in the ticket.

Am I getting ahead of myself? Did those fixes not make it into verion 2.1.2?
