VLC for iOS 2.1 Video problem

Postby koubafire » 07 Sep 2013 11:53

After update is HDMI resolution on tv is verygood, but if I play MKV 720p bitrate 2500kbps via HDMI on TV video is lagging and freezing. Bitrate 2500kbps is not so much CPU could be able to play this.

EDIT: I have iPad 3(The New iPad)

hmm, looks like the iPad's graphics card is a bit, ehm, demanded by rendering both on the HDMI device. I'll try to look into this.

For the meantime, go to VLC's settings and set the Deblocking Filter to a lower level. This might decrease video quality slightly, but should improve the overall performance.

IS it possible sleep ipad display and play HDMI like a original Apple player ,,Videos,,?

If I play with player ,,Videos,, I can close smart cover (sleep display) and play movie still only via HDMI.

iPad 3 own GPU can't drive a Retina display. This is why the iPad 4 was released six months later, which can drive it properly. It's a hardware issue, something VLC can't really fix.

Call Apple about trading your iPad 3 in.

I wish I could do that :)
I doubt it will work.

Well, they did start their iOS buyback program a week before announcing the newer phones.
