How does RTP/MPEG Transport Stream streaming works?

Postby jeremyDT » 08 Jun 2011 21:03

Hi!,

I'm currently receiving an MPEG-2 TS from a UDP source with VLC. I transcode it, and use the RTP/MPEG Transport Stream option to stream it to the network. When i capture the RTP packets (Wireshark), i don't see any TS packets (188 bytes fixed packets) within the RTP payload, nor can i find the ES format described in RFC 2250. There's obviously something i'm missing, but i can't find what. So... how does VLC do the packetization?, is it TSoRTP, or is it ESoRTP?.

Thanks!,

Jeremy
