Change black background to dark brown

I imagine that somewhere in vlc.exe or one of the other files is a byte or bytes that dictate the colour of the background during playback.

If 3 bytes mean...
Red Green Blue
___00 00 00_____indicating black could become...
___80 40 00_____indicating brown

If i knew where in which file then i could just change it?

The reason why i want this feature is because some videos are different shapes and sizes but I suspect at times have a lot of wastage black at the sides or black on the top and bottom so you can't tell how big or the true shape the video really is because VLC player also has a black background on playback. Changing black to another colour would easily highlight this.

I dont think you should be using VLC for these kind of things, there are loads of video editors and encoders on the internet to do such stuff with. But I can see how a different background color would also do the job.

I want this for taste reasons / because dark gray would be nicer and closer to average color.

Give options for 3 color channels, color number from 0 to 255. Also, html color codes. Also, Qt has feature to take color names like "green" from the user.
