VLC For Logitech Revue (GoogleTV)...

Hi,

Are there any plans to compile a version of VLC For Android for the Logitech Revue (GoogleTV) platform?

The later firmware updates for the Revue has dropped internal support for MPEG2. This makes watching any recordings from my PVR impossible (without transcoding). I am hoping that VLC with its inbuilt codecs will restore full functionality to the Revue. If it makes any difference my Revue has the 3.2 update that was recently released.

If VLC is never to come to the Revue then I would welcome suggestions of a media player that works on the Revue that can handle MPEG2 media.

(I believe that such GoogleTV version of VLC would also be useful for the Sony GoogleTV platform.)

The image you provided installs okay but when run the following screen is presented:
"Sorry, but your device is currently not supported by this version of VLC for Android.
The error message is (please mention this when debugging):
x86 build on non-x86 device"

Hmm, would you please install http://code.google.com/p/sysinfo-for-an ... k&can=2&q= on your device, open it, selecy "Build (values from android.os.Build)", and tell me the value of "CPU ABI"?

The "CPU ABI" is "none". In case it helps, "CPU ABI 2" is "unknown".

This build doesn't appear to launch at all. Running the application appears to do nothing. No windows open, no messages are generated.

Weird, could you please try to get a logcat log http://wiki.videolan.org/Android_Report_bugs#Logcat_log - this will allow us to determine where VLC is crashing.

Are there any other Logitech Revue owners out there who can run the SysInfo tool and confirm their settings are comparable to my unit? I wonder if my unit is in some way faulty and that is why we are having issues getting code to run properly on my machine.

I found another Logitech Revue owner and ran the SysInfo test on their unit. Their Revue was running Android 3.1. The results were comparable to my unit. The CPU values were the same. The VLC test builds failed in the same way as they failed on my unit.

It looks like my unit is not broken and there is a fault in the Revue Android builds.

Are there any updates for this? I was hoping to get VLC for my Revue because VLC plays virtually any video format and I have quite a few files in the MKV format and there are no codecs that I can find for mkv on the Revue.
