multiple data types in MP2T input stream

Postby ChuckCrisler » 26 Jul 2012 17:11

I am trying to figure out what will happen when one of our customers feeds a MP2T stream into our VLC. The MP2T stream has H264 video plus some metadata. I assume (and have been told) that the metadata is properly formated and identified. I expect that VLC should properly extract and process the H264 packets. What will happen to the metadata? Can I easily (for someone's definition of easily) access it?

Building on the MP2T formatting question, I have worked with RTP for many years but am new to MP2T. The 2 are very similar. How does the table of PIDs (packet IDs) get built? Are there standard PIDs for known stream types like H264?

Thank you,

Depends what you mean by "access". In general, no.
