ZTE Blade (Orange San Francisco)

Postby ctc33 » 02 Jul 2012 12:44

For Information / Assistance only.

I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to run VLC Beta (Version 0.0.1) for android on my Orange San Francisco.

My processor is an "ARM V6 compatible processor rev 5" with Gingerbread (2.3.7) and Kernal 2.6.35.7-perf+

Google Play sees this app and phone as being incompatible with each other, attempts to circumvent Google Play by downloading and installing the APK file result in a message stating that "...your device is currently not supported by this version of VLC for Android" when the app is launched.

I don't know if you have VFP appearing in your CPU flags. You can try http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/android-v6-fpu/ but if it doesn't work you should try http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/android-v6-nofpu/ as a safe bet.

Hi

Thanks for the response.

Android System Info tells me that VFP is enabled

I have tried both links but the result was the same as originally reported

Temporary glitch - try the nightlies.videolan.org link tomorrow.

Hi

I've tested the APK from both links with the same result for each, I'm pleased to be able to say that there is some progress but the app still doesn't work on this model.

The progress is that the UI now loads without error messages and VLC successfully searches the device for locally held content. However I was unable to play both local content and content streamed from the internet.

Attempts to open local content results in one of the following;-

i) Android reports that the app has stopped responding and offers the option to force close it
ii) The UI presents as intended with the exception of the cue and review buttons which are missing but the remaining buttons (play and stop) do not work and therefore nothing plays
iii) The UI presents entirely as intended but again none of the buttons work and nothing plays.

When attempting to view streaming content the display simply shows the letter i for information, followed by the word "Loading" and a continually rotating circle followed by the word "Wait"

I've installed from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/android-v6-fpu/ dated July 18, 2012. VLC starts okay, I can get the Preferences, VLC was able to detect media files on my sdcard..

But when I click on a media file to play, it goes to the play window/dialog then restarts VLC after 5 seconds so I always end up to VLC Beta message window/dialog.

I'd like to submit the logcat, how do I attach log.txt? Or, is it okay to copy the content from the log file and paste it here?
