Drag and Drop not working at all

Postby AnaLoGMunKy » 16 Jul 2012 21:11

Hi peoples

Ever since VLC 2.0 I have lost all drag and drop functionality. I cannot drag a standard file of any type (mp3, wav, avi etc) onto either the playlist or the blank black video screen.
I just installed 2.0.2 and told it to reset the settings but still no luck :(
My os is Win7 x64

Anyone got any bright ideas?
Thanks

LoG

Re. Drag n Drop.

Like others I have used VLC for many years and rely on drag n drop. It stopped working after upgrading to v2.1.0 installed. However it did work and still does if I use the portable version, including latest 2.0.2.

I have not done a lot of checking into reasons but suspect that there is some anomaly in the registry, as the portable version runs from a pen drive so does not rely on any registry settings.

It would pay others with similar problems to check out the portable version to see if it works for them.

Great product even if there are some problems. Respect to the Dev team.

Re: Drag and Drop not working at all *SOLVED*

Update about the problem, I solved it.

I had vlc.exe set to run as administrator. Went into the properties and unticked the box, I can now drag and drop into the places I could before.

Perhaps an admin could pop a *solved* on the end of my thread topic :)

You are a genius. :D
I am sure that this is a Windows bug, however, who would have thought that removing the Administrator status on the
VLC Icon, would now allow drag and drop to work. Or to put it another way, who would have thought that changing the VLC Icon to
Run as Administrator would REMOVE drag and Drop capability !!

I have had this occur on other applications as well, all of them to do with multimedia.
I usually set them to Run as Admin.

I hope someone looks into this. I am sure that it is a Windows bug and there is something, some setting in Windows that is doing this.

Thank you,

Jon
