audio play too late

In some videos audio play too late, in "Audio desync compensation" value like -400ms don't work. Can you confirm this?

You can't use larger compensations than your input-buffer. In case of a file-input, that's 300ms. You need to enhance these buffers first. You can do so in Input/Codecs -> Access modules --> [your module] with the advanced-flag at the bottom of the window checked.

When you say "enhance" the buffers first, does this mean increasing the 300ms or decreasing it?

Thanks

Speaker Plug-in

Postby Reese » 11 Jul 2010 10:00

Hi! The VLC audio doesn't play out from the external speaker that I plugged-in. Usually it's automatic but it didn't work for VLC player. Is there a setting that I have to change? Thank you!

I also want to know "how to enhance the buffer" like Antproof asked before.
Please reply and I can see it's an old thread and rare reply from mods.
Thanks

Two days ago I got same issue with you. For basic you must understand about a delay for the audio. Go to Preferences → All (features, as opposed to “Basic”) → Audio → Audio desynchronization compensation: a value in milliseconds.

I've a live stream coming in that is transcoded in VLC/1.1.7. Here if I view the stream directly from VLC with a player over RTSP like QuickTime or VLC the audio & video are in perfect sync and never skew. I've tried forcing an --audio-desync in VLC to compensate, but the skew seems to be variable when it comes out of WMS, even though it never skews when played directly from VLC.

But some hours ago the problem is solved, though the specific cause is still not clear sadly.

Initially we were compiling, on Ubuntu 10.04.2, our own vanilla version of the latest VLC (1.1.7 at time of writing release date) with manually pulled down and compiled latest dependencies needed for our case. I additionally tried different versions and dependencies without any luck.

Finally I created an LXC instance of gentoo on the same box and built the latest version of VLC, again v1.1.7, with the necessary dependencies for our setup. This compile of VLC works without the a/v skew, sending over the network to the exact same WMS-2.2.3 instance. All the command lines for the transcode stay similar. Thats all my experienced.

I hope your problem clear..

There are 3 options in my opinion
The first problem with the DVD that you watch? Is it original DVD. If the original should be no problem.
The second, try to check the background task of your PC, whether the many programs that drain memory?
The third, Check your computer for viruses and for malware

I've tried to reinstall VLC and it solved the problem, but then -after 2-3 days- audio continued playing too late.

Hi guys
I am having the same problem, but with one video only. The video's format is m4v. It plays fine on my friend's Mac, but on my laptop (a Dell), the sound is delayed. Does VLC not support m4v format?

VLC fully supports m4v files of course - try to reset your preferences. If the problem persists, please open a new thread on the Windows forum. Thanks!
