converting multiple chapters at once

when I try to convert a dvd and use the defaults, it only converts the root menu.
If I choose a specific title and chapter 1, say, it only converts that chapter
I want to be able to convert from chapter 1 to chapter 5, say.
Is it possible to do that by modifying the parameters?
I have looked in the manual, but am having a hard time locating how to do this.
I am not good at using vlc yet, but reasonably computer literate, so medium instructions should suffice.
running vista and latest vlc 1.1.5 5.1??

Use dvdsimple:// as the source, rather than dvd://

I read this instructions, but I didn't understand how it should work.

For myself I chosed Convert and 'DVD without menu' to get the 'DVDsimple' in the MRL.
But then I don't know how to instruct VLC that it should only convert disc chapter 6 till 12.
It chooses only chapter 6 in the MRL-codeline. Any suggestion?
