Humming Noise When I Close Out of VLC

Postby EricPost » 11 Sep 2011 03:04

I noticed that when I play files through VLC, thy work perfectly except for when I close out of VLC using the "X" box in the upper right hand corner.

I always get a humming or trilling noise, after I hit the "X" box to close out. The noise is kind of like a rolling r sound.

It does not make this noise when I use WMP or other sound devices, just VLC.

I tried to uninstall VLC, used Revo Uninstall for a complete uninstall and reinstall but it doesn't help any.

I am running Vista SP2, 32 bit.

I went and checked my drivers for the sound card and all are the latest versions.

As I said, VLC plays the files fine, it's only as I close out, do I get that noise, and I don't get it with other media players like WMP

Any ideas?

Thanks

What VLC version you use? (don't say latest, tell us the version number)

When you close VLC, is there still a vlc.exe instance running in task manager?

VLC version 1.11.1

No when I hit the "X" to close it out, it makes a humming noise for 3 to ten seconds then closes. No VLC.exe remains in task manager

One thing I want to add, I wasn't clear. The noise only happens if I close out while the song or movie is still playing.

What is happening, I think is this. Let's say it's a song file and the word is "sing" and if I "X" out on that word "Sing" it goes g-g-g-g-g-g-g, then closes out. It seems to get stuck on the last bit of the sound, before it closes out. I hope that makes sense.

If I stop the song or pause it, then "X" out of VLC I get no noise issue at all.

I've been having the same issues. Running Vlc 1.1.11 on Windows 7 64bit. I get a buzzing sound at the end of every video that i play. Buzzing sound doesn't stop until i open a window in explorer closing vlc alone wont stop the noise. Any help would be appreciated.

Same here, and same version.
