Uncheck the option during the installer
i do uncheck it, but it doesnt install my old settings. this happens all the time i install a new version.

is there a way to copy a file or folder containing my old settings, save it on my desktop, then, paste it into the vlc directory after the new version installs?

you must be on crack.. when i opt for the option for saving my old settings during an upgrade, the old settings are removed.. i then got to start all over and reset my volume, lok of my interface, etc. seriously, why do you doubt what i'm saying?

all i want to know is where and what file are my old settings saved to.

Thanks - I was facing the same problem throughout the past years. That option during installation seemed to be completely without effect, my settings were always deleted (or whatever, at least they were not present anymore).
