extracting a piece from a dvd

Firstly, sorry if this has been already asked, but I haven´t got to find it.
We have to select some scenes from a dvd film. Is it possible with VLC? I mean, is there any way to say VLC to take to a file (with the stream out function and so on) just the piece of the film from, say, 0 hours, 1 minute and 20 seconds to 0 hours, 4 minutes and 36 seconds?
