VLC 1.1.5 audio hickups - downgrade is the only solution

Postby gernoth » 06 Dec 2010 23:16

Have fair Win32 PC, core2duo at 3GHz
everything was running smooth with vlc 1.1.4 (except for a few occasional crashes)
now that I installed 1.1.5, audio had hickups, every few seconds, like every 5-10 or so. Independent of the format, with mp3s, apes, various video file formats.
I originally thought it is maybe because I kept my preferences and cache, so I uninstalled, dumped the whole isntall dir, but even after a clean install I have hiccups.
Uninstalled 1.1.5, reinstalled 1.1.4, now everything works fine again.

I know that this is annoying, would like to help, how can I?

Cheers

I have the same audio problems after the transition from 1.1.4 to 1.1.5. Here's a part of the log with the error messages during the playback. Filetype and codec don't matter.

Same problem and in addition, volume control was not working.
Had to manually set audio to Win32 waveOut and video to Direct3D which did work for one DVD.
Next DVD had audio hickups which I couldn't fix and just downgraded back to 1.1.4.
With 1.1.4, everything works perfectly with default settings.

Just to report that I have exactly the same issue.
I saw this thread earlier this month and also had to downgrade to 1.1.4 but I've just had a security check and one of the complaints is that VLC isn't up to date. So I came back to see if anyone got anywhere but apparently not.

I have a Core i5 750 (2.67GHz) with 8GB RAM - 64 bit Windows 7 Professional.

I'm not sure about generating logs from VLC to help identify the cause..

I have the exact same problem
Downgrading to 1.1.4 Was the only solution to get my lovely player back

I am not sure either about how to generate a log

My system is an Asus netbook EeePC 1005P But operating on windows XP SP3

Hope we find a solution soon
