aspect ratio changes while streaming Live-TV - How to fix?

Postby vel_tins » 11 Nov 2010 05:47

while streaming Live-TV from my DVB-S Card, the aspect-ratio changes sometimes from 16:9 to 4:3 and back (advertisements, e.g.).
But VLC doesn`t detect this automatically.
So I have to restart the stream, to get the correct aspect-ratio for my stream.
Is there any solution or commandline setting, which prevents me from restarting the stream everytime when the aspect-ratio changes?
thanks in advance

do you specify output dimensions? (not that I know the answer to your question, just wondering)

We have the EXACT same problem in our house. We are on IPTV now all the tv's. 4 of them actually :).

Every time a commercial joins up or end's it goes back to 4:3 or whatever the aspect ratio is. Is there a way to really force it to one aspect all the time?.

I have alread defined it in the options that it should be 16:9.

you could use libvlc and "poll" for the aspect ratio, to look for changes...maybe... :)
