Can't download the Update !!??

My system -- Win XP SP2
Current VLC Media Player Version - 1.0.5 Goldeneye
Trying to update it, but I can't due to error in saving/downloading file.

When I try to update it gives file write-error, when it tries to 'write' (save) the download file !! I try different folders, including desktop, etc. It doesn't matter what folder/disk file I set to, it doesn't proceed, as it keeps giving the same file can't open/write error -- saving file failed --

I download many other files, exec files, programs, etc. all the time without any problem. There's no problem with my folders/disk, settings.

Can any one tell me what's going on? Please let me know.

It might be a problem in the updater. Just download the last version from the website: http://www.videolan.org/vlc

Thanks for the link, successfully installed the latest version. However, the Firefox browser doesn't seem to recognize it (the plug-in) as up-to-date. What can be done to make the Firefox recognize it?

Which version does firefox ask you to install ?
