VLC and Bandwidth usage

Postby Rem » 30 Mar 2005 18:38

Hi !

I need to use VLC for video streaming on a 2 Mbit/s link. I sav that bandwidth used by VLC depend on what you stream !
Ok now I j'm just looking for some info about how many average bandwtidth is in use for a video stream ( something comming from DV input for example !)
The same questions remains in me about only audio streaming. Does it use less bandwidth or not !

Thanks for any responses

Probably, with a Digital Video Input you will need more bandwith.

If you have that bandwith (2Mbits) probably you will need a MPEG4 compression and transmission via RTSP or UDP. Your bitrate will not stay over 1Mbit/s (you have a stable 2 Mbits link?) and your resolution will be 352*288 with full framerate.

Another sollution will be MJPEG.

If you give us more characteristics about what do you want to transmit we will help you better :D

Regards
