VLC jump-to problems

Postby AEN007 » 03 Apr 2010 12:49

3April2010

Greetings.
I'm not sure where to make this "feedback" posting.

Recently I had problems with S/MPlayer portable (subsequently resolved).
I have always used S/MPlayer to p/re/view video in/out/put files on which I am working.
That involves randomly clicking on the "slider" to check video quality & A/V sync.
S/MPlayer handles such random, frequent clicking/jump-tos very well.
I just discovered that VLC does not handle such random, frequent clicking/jump-tos very well.
Often the VLC display would "crack up" and distort for a few seconds.
I do these p/re/views in full screen with overlays.

Maybe VLC might want to check this out?

Thank you.
Regards,
AEN

Greetings.

The input files could be of any extension from any codec ...
The output files are avi from DivX codec made in VirtualDub with aviSynth ...

All of sudden for some unknown reason, VLC with DirectX overlays
NO LONGER works on one of my three XP laptops.
The VLC video display is just bright yellow.
DirectX without overlays works. OpenGL works ...

I would like to find out how to correct this error condition,
so I can once again use VLC DirectX overlays.
I have no idea what has happened ...

Any helpful replies/insights appreciated.
Thank you.

This is most probably a driver update gone wrong. It could also be that the overlay has been configured to the wrong output port(s), but you should remember doing this...

Greetings.
Thanks for the reply.

Well, I know of nothing that I did related to this problem.
Could/Would someone reply/advise regarding possible solutions?
How would I check/correct the overlay output ports?

Any helpful replies/insights appreciated.
Thank you.

Greetings.

Someone posted a link in this thread but the posting/link is no longer here.
I never clicked on the link. Was the link malicious?

Anyway, here's the re-solution I worked out ...
