System freezes on SPDIF out

Postby Ijaja » 16 Mar 2010 13:13

Hey all,

my VLC freezes when i use spdif direct out. I already know, that sound does not stutter when i use win32 wave out.
But when i use it, vlc crashes (freezes the whole system!!!) either when i switch between ac3 track and another, or
when i stop the video. To come to the point: Obviously when i stop the ac3 sound track (either by switching track or stopping video)
the crash occures SOMETIMES, not every time, but sometimes. Its crazy. It does not happen on any other sound configuration
(but then ac3 sound stutters).

Is there any solution for it? :

Could there be any known reason for the crashing system??
Can i use any other working sound out? Is there a way of using external audio decoder filters..???
May this problem be solved in 1.1.0 (either no crashing or working direct x sound)? When is 1.1.0 release scheduled??

By the way, the stuttering sound problem seems to exist since many versions. Why was it never fixed?
VLC is really very good player. This is my only problem i have with it. It fullfills all my needs, which are not
few and i did not find any other player till now.

Would be grateful for any hint!!

Thx in advance!

Broken hardware or buggy device drivers.

OK..

i updated my audigy 2 soundblaster drivers yesterday. And what should i say - it seems to work now. If so, it really helped and i am very glad about it.
I should have read the faq earlier yesterday.... sorry!

My old drivers where really rather old and may be they have been corrupted in a way while the time.
