VLC Will Not Play DVD

Postby carbonbased » 22 Jan 2010 01:27

VLC will not play my DVDs in the computer's DVD drive. It plays every video file I ask of it, but not the DVD in my drive. This puzzle's me. Under Windows XP I could always play any DVD on this same computer. Running Linux the DVDs won't play. I use the drive for every other form of CD & DVD disk function, but these movie disks will not play.

More interesting. Linux Mint plays them just fine, Ubuntu will not.

Apparently this was the problem. I'm new to Linux and didn't realise how much Ubuntu is missing when first installed.

Thanks for the reply.
