How Do I Download Skins Where do I save them

Hello Everyone, Iam New here as I have just started useing to VLC! The sound is just brilliant" compared to ITunes WMP and Media Monkey.I have just gone: Inter/ Pref/ and selected "Skins" so I have got that far! My problem is I dunno how to "download files" and save them to directories and stuff as I am a "Newb" I understand nothing about directories? I assume it would have to go: Win Explorer /Programs / VLC folder/? But where to from there? How would I save a "Skin" I was downloading' so it would show in the: VLC Menu / Interface / Select Skin /Open Skin ? Which of coarse is empty at the Moment? Should I save It to "Desktop" first ? Could you please give me step by step instructions, Thanks Dasha

It Certainly Is (has)! But if you don't know or understand the "Jargon" you people take such pride in Verbating like a "Pizza Topping Menu". I'd have more chance of trying to design the "Skin myself" as try and install it.

I had read all of that "Thread" (three time's) but I still did not understand where or how to find the right place to install the Downloaded Skin?

I had already tried to go there with a Skin" and I have no idea where that Skin is now? I did not intend to upset anyone within this or any other Forum! I thought Forums like these' where here to help people who were not able to comprehend as easily' what you are able to take for granted? But obviously they are here for "some gifted people" to mock and belittle other's whilst stroking their own Ego's!
I would ask you to remember this? If nobody needed to come here and ask for help" none of these "Forums" would be required. And that would mean that we are all equally as learned and Intelligent! Wouldn't that be nice? Dasha

The wiki link provided describes in a fair amount of detail how to add a skin/change to the skins interface.

To summarise

1. Download a skin from here (click on the skin thumbnail, that will bring up a larger screenshot of it and more info - then click on the "Download" link) (will be a *.vlt file):
   http://www.videolan.org/vlc/skins.php
2. Put the *.vlt file into VLC's skins folder. For Windows that will be something like:
   C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\skins
3. Open VLC and got to "Tools >> Preferences".
4. Click on the "Skins" radio button as described here. Then click the "Browse..." button to the right of the "Skin file" text box and select your *.vlt file.
5. Press "Save" and restart VLC.

aLtgLasS, As a further extension of my "Reply" to your Post? I have just figured out what to do! What's occured here is any Path I have been told to follow is normally done as: < C:/Profile/Videolan/VLC/Skins > its the "Backward Slash" that threw me off!: <C:\Profile\Videolan\VLC\Skins >
I have never been given or seen a "Take this path to reach this" as a "Back Slash" always a "Forward Slash" so this is why I could not understand Dasha

Arite, I have downloaded 5 Of them and just trying them all to get the one I like the best. Thank you for your Help Dasha

Sorry that the back slashes confused you, on Windows paths are usually typed with backslashes, whereas on other system forward slashes are used. That's why back slashes were used when describing the skin folder path on Windows.
