Funimation DVDs and jump forward don't work

Postby james438 » 06 Oct 2009 12:18

I couldn't find this issue doing a Google search or in any of my searches in this forum.

I am using version 1.0.2 and for all of my DVDs the playback works fine, but with DVDs from Funimation (an anime distributor) the keyboard shortcuts to skip forward or backwards make large jumps forward instead. Jumping to a specific time 01:00:00 will jump to that time plus a percentage of the time selected. Using the mouse to move the time forward or backwards causes vlc to jump to strange places in the DVD. Jumping forward or backwards chapter by chapter works fine. A-B Loop does not work. Actually, I have only tried this on 2 Funimation DVDs. The only similarity I have found seems to be that the DVD's were distributed by Funimation.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a work around for this. If not then this might be something to include in a future release.

Are those discs authored properly?

How would I be able to tell if the DVD's are authored correctly? Funimation is a top distributor of anime. I was suspecting that it may be some sort of strange copy protection feature. I wouldn't be surprised if it were not authored correctly however.

Same issue here. I just tried it for a while. It worked ok for a few minutes and then went haywire.

Is this a known issue? Is there a link to the known issues list?
