VLC 1.0.2 is not working well

Postby lovecraft22 » 24 Sep 2009 16:36

Hi, Im using VLC from some years. It always worked well, exception made for the last version (1.0.2) on mac. I don't want to criticize the vlc team's work, I just hope I'm helping to get to a better version of VLC.
The problems I encountered are:
-large usage of cpu and cpu temperature increased with hgher rotation speed of cooling fans;
-when I try to close VLC (cmd+q) or I change the video file, VLC become very slow in doing what I want it to do;
-subtitles font is ugly and you cannot change it.

thank you

Lorenzo

Mine also hangs and becomes unresponsive when closing the app or I click to play a different video. Also, I noticed that if I play a movie then stop it and delete the file, VLC will hang and then close the app.

im having the exact same problems with this version.

I run a macbook pro early 08 edition with snow leopard.

when i try to just simply quit the app, it will hang, the only way to close it is to force quit. also when changing video files it will also hang.

for the time being ive been turning to movist =\

I can confirm this as well.

I've seen similar issues with some other programs (notably CyberDuck).

Can the rest of you help me test a theory.... has anyone having this issue done a clean snow leopard install? So far, I suspect this issue is related to upgrading to Snow Leopard in place.

Any info, anyone?

And there is nothing in the log files to indicate anything about this, but I suspect (again, no proof) it has to do with UI interaction between VLC and the Finder/System.

Did that help? If an earlier version works, please post which version.

Yeah, it might not be VLC, it may be partial incompatibility with Snow Leopard. I just upgraded and when I was using Leopard 1.0.2 was running smoothly. When I upgraded I got most of the issues above: missing fonts, broken scrubbing, etc.

1.0.3 fixes this for me on snow leopard.
