vod_rtsp unsupported codec problem

Good afternoon everyone,

I'm trying to set up a VoD server on my home LAN and after a fashion I have it working save one problem.

I have a batch of .avi files encoded with DIV3 which play fine when run directly through the local vlc. When I try to stream then through the vod_rtsp module however, I get a the following error:

[00000315] vod_rtsp private error: cannot add this stream (unsupported codec: DIV3)

This is the only error I get, and other non-DIV3 files stream fine.

My computer is Gentoo GNU/Linux, and vlc is v0.8.5.

In short:
Running locally works fine, trying to load the file to the rtsp module causes the vod_rtsp module to barf.

Is this a limitation of the vod_rtsp module? Or am I missing something.

Was there ever a solution to this? I am trying it on 0.8.6c for Ubuntu, then compiled 0.9.8a from source and it still gives this error.

I have the same problem...
There are two codecs which are not seems to be supported:
- unsupported codec:DIV3
- unsupported codec:subt

The DIV3 problem:
The server is openSuSE 11.0, the client is Vista. The server and client vlc is the newest 1.0 version. It is very interesting because there is no any difference between the two .avi files, they have exactly same coding method... The symptom is on the client: after buffering (1-2 second) the vlc clent rebuffered the file but only the voice was received, the video is missed.

You need to transcode. DIV3 doesn't go in TS.

I read the doc:
"Note

You do not have to specify an output for vod elements."

Where can I specify to the #transcode script then?

If I understood well, it is usable only for the broadcast, as I read the examples.

Anyway I tried some output specs to the VoD element but none of them worked ... (standard, rtp, blank, after transcode script)

Some detailed examples would be very useful in the docs.

I have several seasons of series' in DIVX format. I uploaded it to a server - it lasted very-very long time and took big space - because the vlc played them locally without any problem (I supposed that the VLM also will do) and I wanted to share it. Unfortunately the vlc/VLM VoD server cannot played them...
Should I delete all this series from the server or will able to play them the VLM in the future?
I also tried several transcode methods to solve the problem on the server without any success...
Please help me or give some examples about this-type transcode methods.
