Hiyo!
I've used vlc for years now and been perfectly happy about it. Just recently I however vlc has refused to play any audio while watching avis etc.. whats even worse after the playback has gone on for about 3min or so my computer totally freezes and has to be rebooted. I never had this problem before..
I've tried to uninstall everything related to vlc and update to newest version and still it continues..
No such problems with other similar programs.

Delete preferences and cache.
