If your experience has been like mine, hope this takes you forward a bit ...
1. VLC 0.8.1 from the download page does NOT work properly with PVRs!
2. Instead download from the nightly builds
- available at: http://vthr.via.ecp.fr/~videolan/build/win32/
- I used vlc-win32-200412310322.zip
3. Installation method is as follows (thanks, Markfm)
- install the normal build VLC0.8.1
- then unzip the nightly build, using the over-write option.
4. On the server:
- start WinTV2000
- close it (I guess to load the drivers?)
- start up the new VLC
5. That's it!
- even the sound works (I have seen a lot of posts complaining about this)
Cheers
Polyphemus
PS: The standard version of 0.8.1 seems to work fine as the client for this - its only as the server that can't cope with the PVR card
PPS: Truly excellent package - from a code hackers viewpoint, but for idiots like myself... I won't humiliate myself by saying how long it took me to reach this point
