Add the option 'remember video size'

I am suggesting the feature 'remeber video size' which will simply enable VLC to remember the last played size of window for video and that video with different resolution will not resize on each play.

Yeah, we can already achieve this similarly by going into the advanced options of 'preferences' but I am suggesting an easy on/off way of doing this that will not predefine the size to a set measurement but will rather remember on each playback access. In addition to being newbie friendly for new users of VLC if put in the main menu.

I have used this feature in SM player and KM Player and is such a lovely small feature for the intance of say wanting to watch a batch of video files one by one with drag and drop and then maintaining the same window size in between each file watched.

Ideally it could simply be a simple toggle on/off with a tick via the main menu in video as; Remember Video Size


...would be very convenient

I just downloaded the nighties build of VLC 1.0

It is in the 'Preferences' > Interface under "resize interface to video size" - a nice simple tick box for on/off that takes working effect after a restart of VLC

It would be nice if we could customize some preference menu items like this one to appear in the menu toolbar like a drop-down but I am satisfied anyway.

When can we expect the final release of VLC 1.0 ?

You cannot do that in the menu easily, so not for 1.0. If you want it for later, fill a ticket for 1.1.

VLC 1.0 will be released when it is ready.

I want to support this request for remembering the video size.
Just tried VLC in the last couple of days for the first time.
It's annoying that it's not there.
