VLC will not follow the order of the clips in a playlist created by VLC. VLC can create an xspf or an m3u playlist file but when VLC is started by launching the playlist the files are no longer in the order they were when the file was created. The order of the files is important for continuity.
Anybody know how to defeat this randomness by VLC?

I too have this problem, it's irritating enough that I've signed up to post on the forum.
Vista Home Premium, VLC 0.9.9.
Start VLC, drag'n'drop files into the playlist editor in the order I want then save the playlist.
Close VLC.
Open the playlist directly. It then loads the playlist in the wrong order.
I saw something about going through the registry and adding '--no-random', that is not a solution. I suspect that this problem most likely affects more than one platform.

Select the ID column and sort with it.

This happens to me every time when I drag & drop the whole folder:
Note that Track number column is the one selected for sorting but files are not sorted correctly. If it helps, the same file is at the top each time. It happens on most of folders.
