Aspect Ratio Problems!

Postby cap2587 » 03 Apr 2009 21:49

I am playing AVI Movies using VLC Media Player. Having trouble with the Movie not showing up on the entire screen. Some is getting cut off at the top and the botton. I tried changing the aspect ratio to 16:9, but that didn't work. I tried reinstalling VLC again, did not fix it. When I burn the movies onto a disk it shows up the same. I am using Utorrent to burn the movies onto my computer. I have been using Utorrent for quite a while and never had this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

uTorrent doesn't burn movies. It downloads them. Could you create a screenshot that shows your problem and paste it here (use service like imageshack)?

I took a picture with Vista's snipping Tool and uploaded it to Imageshack. The link is http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/3138/captureciw.jpg

You can see a small strip of black at the top and bottom where it is cut off. Never use to have that problem. I have tried it on different computer's playing VLC and same problem happens. I used a DIV X Player and didn't have any issues. Let me know any suggestions.

I was wrong and it does happen when I use different media player's. it's only when you try and expand the movie to the entire screen. Could it be the movie, rather than what device I am playing it on that's the problem. I have never had this problem prior to now. Ideas?

Maybe related to Overlay. Does disabling Overlay video output help?

Thanks for the good tip. Disabling overlay video really helped and now can see the movie all the way to the top and bottom. Appreciate your help.
