Can I do this setup on server with videolan?

Postby timreichhart » 27 Jan 2009 09:26

Hi Guys
I am a newbie here and I got couple questions needs to be answered.

first question is can I get a IP Set Top Box and set it up at my dads house and uses Verizon for his internet and I use FTTH (Hometown Cable)for my internet and be able to share my tv channels on my server with my dad who lives 43 miles away?

second question is how would I do the IP address setup? like say from my apt to his house?

third question how many channels can I broadcast at one time? like say 1 or what?

The answer is: if you can see the channels with VLC, you can restream it, wherever you want. Just use plain http and use your external IP for this.
