Osprey Capture Cards Issue with VLC 0.9.x

Postby vibes992000 » 17 Dec 2008 09:03

Dear VLC Developers,

We are a governmental organization and have received the expensive high performance Osprey Cards (210 & 230) http://www.videomediasolutions.com/osprey230.html and http://www.videomediasolutions.com/osprey210.html respectively.

Upto the 0.86 Series it was working fine but recently after the installation of 0.9x series both are crashing when I go to capture devices. I'm using another OPEN Source SPLIT CAM Capture http://www.splitcamera.com/ to split the incoming capture card video to multiple outputs so that I can stream in to various different bandwidths.

Please acknowledge the Osprey Issue in your next development cycle as these are very expensive cards (500 $ (US) ) and we have already purchased them and there is no going back.

At the moment we are stuck with streaming from 0.86 Version only. If you want then we can provide the Video Screen Shot for the above problem.

Thanks Again
vibs

Believe me, I would have given you the cards for sure if they would have been mine. I'm fan of your ideology of developing the open source platform for Multimedia Playing & Streaming. Don't worry if not contributing this way then there are other ways of contributing i.e via Helping you Guys in Documentations, Testings, even finances (Provided I get a good job :D as compared to the current one) etc

Anyways I'm unable to find the link of download 1.0 Version. Please let me know.

Thanks

hi, i saw your post saying you got vlc working with your osprey card. would you mind helping me to do so? i have osprey-450e card and cant make it work with vlc. idk, i suspect pins may have to do something with that.. i just left pin settings all -1 in advanced settings.. could you point me to the right direction?
Download and install the older VLC Version 0.86i from the link http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/0.8.6i/

Hopefully your obspray card should work now in it. Secondly it also depends upon the drivers of obspray card that you are using. incase you are directly downloading from its website then try the drivers given along with the original card.

i can confirm that osprey 230&240 work with 0.8.6 and don't work with 0.9.9 or 1.0.0. for that matter. i can get the picture and audio but a/v stream stops every few seconds regardless of the output format.

if anyone is willing to test this out and/or fix it, i might find a card to spare for him.

regards,
y
