JVLC help! :-(

Postby Orcephrye » 19 Nov 2008 10:56

Ok so I was able to do the
java -classpath jvlc-core.jar org.videolan.jvlc.example.VLCExample
command to the .jar file I downloaded however after making the static directory with the random a.avi file the command worked fine and even gave me a nice reassuring statement "Everything fine ;)" at the end. Now what? I figured that I could start coding right? In netbeans I just type in import org.videolan.jvlc.*; and start rocking? Because that is what I tried next but I was unable to get anywhere. :-( NetBeans said that the import didn't exist and when I tried outside of NetBeans in a really really very basic .java file

Code: Select all

import org.videolan.jvlc.*; public class test { public static void main(String args[]) { } }
And it just says the this import doesn't exist! Is there another step I am missing here? Any help would be awesome thanks! Oh and I am running OpenSuSE 11.0 64bit though i fallowed the Ubuntu instructions at viewtopic.php?f=13&t=47431&p=168454&hilit=jvlc#p150688 except I used RPMs from the SuSE community and then did the find commands using the supplied /usr/lib64/vlc/ directory which as far as i can tell worked nicely.. i think.. :-( HELP PLZ!

You need to add the JVLC jar file to the project classpath so Netbeans can get the classes properly.

... WOW Now U think that I would be able to do that without asking LOL. Now I would assume you do this by going to:
Tools > Library Manager > ClassPath Tab > Add Jar/Folder
and then add the jar file correct!?

Now also if I was using VIM as an IDE and javac to compile the code I would probably need to type something like javac -classpath /dir/to/jar ? To compile it probably. I don't always use NetBeans is why I am asking. OH and thanks for the input!

Ok well I finially got home and was able to try this stuff out. And after adding it the .jar file in the project library it worked fine. I even wget the ihack site for the mvn-site api doc for the lastest snapshot so i have the documentation inside netbeans woot.

However I have now run into another snag. VLC no longer works... at all. Not sure If i should make another thread for this as it really isn't about JVLC anymore.

Not sure what happened. It just segment faults... I rebooted my lovley SuSE 11 this evening after working to find my fav. media program broken. I tried installing the RPMs and that was a no go. I show u what it says.

First I noticed it when I started to a small java program to test jvlc. I got

Code: Select all

> java -jar javatest.jar [00000001] main libvlc debug: VLC media player - version 0.9.6 Grishenko - (c) 1996-2008 the VideoLAN team [00000001] main libvlc debug: libvlc was configured with ./configure '--prefix=/usr' '--libdir=/usr/lib64' '--disable-dependency-tracking' '--enable-gnomevfs' '--enable-ncurses' '--enable-wxwidgets' '--disable-pda' '--disable-macosx' '--disable-qnx' '--enable-xosd' '--enable-gnutls' '--enable-visual' '--disable-goom' '--enable-slp' '--enable-lirc' '--disable-joystick' '--disable-corba' '--enable-dvdread' '--enable-dvdnav' '--disable-dshow' '--enable-v4l' '--enable-v4l2' '--enable-pvr' '--enable-vcd' '--enable-satellite' '--enable-ogg' '--enable-mkv' '--enable-mod' '--enable-libcdio' '--enable-vcdx' '--enable-cddax' '--enable-libcddb' '--enable-x11' '--enable-xvideo' '--enable-glx' '--enable-fb' '--enable-mga' '--enable-freetype' '--enable-fribidi' '--disable-svg' '--disable-directx' '--disable-wingdi' '--disable-glide' '--enable-aa' '--enable-caca' '--enable-oss' '--disable-esd' '--enable-arts' '--enable-waveout' '--disable-coreaudio' '--disable-hd1000a' '--disable-hd1000v' '--enable-mad' '--enable-ffmpeg' '--enable-faad' '--enable-a52' '--enable-dca' '--enable-flac' '--enable-libmpeg2' '--enable-vorbis' '--enable-tremor' '--enable-speex' '--disable-tarkin' '--enable-theora' '--enable-cmml' '--enable-utf8' '--enable-pth' '--disable-st' '--disable-gprof' '--disable-cprof' '--disable-testsuite' '--enable-optimizations' '--disable-altivec' '--disable-debug' '--enable-release' '--enable-sout' '--with-ffmpeg-faac' '--disable-galaktos' '--enable-httpd' '--disable-jack' '--enable-mozilla' '--enable-alsa' '--enable-real' '--enable-realrtsp' '--enable-live555' '--with-live555-tree=/usr/lib64/live' '--enable-fast-install' '--enable-dvbpsi' '--enable-dvb' '--enable-lua' '--enable-pulse' '--enable-asademux' '--enable-libproxy' '--enable-libass' '--enable-kate' '--enable-smb' [00000001] main libvlc debug: translation test: code is "C" [00000367] main demux error: no meta reader module matched "any"
And that was it... well at first I got a ton of module matched "any" errors and I wish I had that output but after I reinstall VLC I got only that far and it would just close.

Now if I just run vlc in the command promopt with the -vvv this it was i get...

Code: Select all

> vlc -vvv VLC media player 0.9.6 Grishenko [00000001] main libvlc debug: VLC media player - version 0.9.6 Grishenko - (c) 1996-2008 the VideoLAN team [00000001] main libvlc debug: libvlc was configured with ./configure '--prefix=/usr' '--libdir=/usr/lib64' '--disable-dependency-tracking' '--enable-gnomevfs' '--enable-ncurses' '--enable-wxwidgets' '--disable-pda' '--disable-macosx' '--disable-qnx' '--enable-xosd' '--enable-gnutls' '--enable-visual' '--disable-goom' '--enable-slp' '--enable-lirc' '--disable-joystick' '--disable-corba' '--enable-dvdread' '--enable-dvdnav' '--disable-dshow' '--enable-v4l' '--enable-v4l2' '--enable-pvr' '--enable-vcd' '--enable-satellite' '--enable-ogg' '--enable-mkv' '--enable-mod' '--enable-libcdio' '--enable-vcdx' '--enable-cddax' '--enable-libcddb' '--enable-x11' '--enable-xvideo' '--enable-glx' '--enable-fb' '--enable-mga' '--enable-freetype' '--enable-fribidi' '--disable-svg' '--disable-directx' '--disable-wingdi' '--disable-glide' '--enable-aa' '--enable-caca' '--enable-oss' '--disable-esd' '--enable-arts' '--enable-waveout' '--disable-coreaudio' '--disable-hd1000a' '--disable-hd1000v' '--enable-mad' '--enable-ffmpeg' '--enable-faad' '--enable-a52' '--enable-dca' '--enable-flac' '--enable-libmpeg2' '--enable-vorbis' '--enable-tremor' '--enable-speex' '--disable-tarkin' '--enable-theora' '--enable-cmml' '--enable-utf8' '--enable-pth' '--disable-st' '--disable-gprof' '--disable-cprof' '--disable-testsuite' '--enable-optimizations' '--disable-altivec' '--disable-debug' '--enable-release' '--enable-sout' '--with-ffmpeg-faac' '--disable-galaktos' '--enable-httpd' '--disable-jack' '--enable-mozilla' '--enable-alsa' '--enable-real' '--enable-realrtsp' '--enable-live555' '--with-live555-tree=/usr/lib64/live' '--enable-fast-install' '--enable-dvbpsi' '--enable-dvb' '--enable-lua' '--enable-pulse' '--enable-asademux' '--enable-libproxy' '--enable-libass' '--enable-kate' '--enable-smb' [00000001] main libvlc debug: translation test: code is "C" [00000001] main libvlc debug: checking builtin modules [00000001] main libvlc debug: checking plugin modules [00000001] main libvlc debug: loading plugins cache file /home/rye/.cache/vlc/plugins-04081e.dat [00000001] main libvlc warning: could not open plugins cache file /home/rye/.cache/vlc/plugins-04081e.dat for reading [00000001] main libvlc debug: recursively browsing `/usr/lib64/vlc' [00000001] main libvlc debug: module bank initialized, found 268 modules [00000001] main libvlc debug: opening config file (/home/rye/.config/vlc/vlcrc) [00000001] main libvlc debug: CPU has capabilities 486 586 MMX 3DNow!
