forced auto resize on repeat = FAIL

Postby uncoolcentral » 15 Nov 2008 18:26

(0.9.6) I typically resize VLC when playing almost any video. Then, when a video repeats, VLC does not maintain the window size. Is there a setting I can change to force it to keep the same sizing? This wasn't an issue in older VLC versions, but then again I erased all of my preferences on my most recent install. (note to self - don't do that!)

VOUT logic changed between 0.8.6 -> 0.9.2, so your old preferences wouldn't help. You can set the window size from Tools -> Preferences... (Show Settings: All) Video and Video width + Video height

Thanks for the 411. I've tried a few different values in those slots and it's not preventing the resize on repeat. (what exactly does -1 or 0 or +1 mean for width/height anyhow? Kind of nebulous.) Any other ideas?

Size is actual resolution of video windows. (so something like 320x240)
and you might also have to separate controls and video window

Ah ha, i think i've found it!

At the very bottom where it says video zoom, change it from 1.00 to say 1.50. Then whenever you open it or it goes to repeat, it will stick to that same size. It's the solution i was looking for when i came to this thread.

I hope it helps, i created an account just for this post :D

On repeat: forced auto resize and repeated AVI-fix message

Postby isp » 06 Jun 2010 11:37

I played around this setting (e.g. set the size from 1.00 to 1.50) and for some files it's ok.
For some other it's annoying.

I would suggest VLC to keep the window size once choosen from the user if it repeats the same file.
--
I would like to add the same for the "AVI-index broken" message popup.
This message may be usefull to see that you can't jump around in the file.

But it doesn't make sense to repeatedly ask the question every time in the loop.
Does it?

So my altered suggestion would be:
On Auto-Repeat for one file do not restart this file, but please set only to position pointer to the start. (All settings would be the same, thanks god)
