problems with shell extension

Postby bugmenot » 15 Sep 2008 03:46

When I select multiple files and click "Add to VLC media player's Playlist" or "Play with VLC media player", the items are played in a random order rather than the order I have them (alphabetical).

Also if I select multiple files and click "Play" then only one item plays.

Im using VLC 0.9.2 BTW.

With first one, really random, or just that last and first ones have switched places?

Does same happen, if you start VLC from commandline and add few filenames to that command line also?

Using the command:

Code: Select all

% vlc 1.mpg 2.mpg 3.mpg 4.mpg
VLC played the files in that order (correct).

Does it help if you add --no-random to that "Add to VLC media player's Playlist" or "Play with VLC media player" context menu?

Use registry editor and edit those context menu entries.

OK I added that and now the files play in order but I have another problem:

When right-click a file (to use the VLC shell menu), the file positioned right next to it will not get played/added to playlist.

For example, if I select 1.mpg, 2.mpg, 3.mpg, and 4.mpg and I right-click on 1.mpg, then 2.mpg will not be on the playlist. If I instead had right-clicked on 3.mpg, then 4.mpg would not be on the playlist.

Sounds weird. Can you see from Tools -> Messages any errors/warnings related to this?

No error messages, just the usual:

Code: Select all

main info: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.

Any progress on this? Should I wait for VLC 0.9.4?

If you run one instance mode, those files should open in same VLC and there should be log messages.

I just tried VLC 0.9.4 but VLC still doesnt play all the files I select.

Here I selected 4 files to add to the playlist:

Here you can see that 2.mpg did not get added to the playlist, also I included the messages window:
