fade on fullscreen disable option - please!

Postby breakneckridge » 09 Aug 2008 10:41

VLC now fades up and fades down when you enter or exit fullscreen. This is terribly annoying! Often times I just want to get a glimpse of a video full screen to check its full screen quality, and the fade up and fade down are a big pain. Also, when I view a short video clip that's just a few seconds long, the fade in and fade out actually seem to cut into the video playback for most of the clip! And if you want to quickly view a few short clips in a row, the constant fades are super annoying.

Please, just put an option setting in the preferences to disable the fade in and fade out.

Thanks for the great program!

Mac OS X. I was under the impression that all the different versions of VLC for different OSes were all feature identical. Is that not the case?

Definitely not, especially when it comes to user interface things. :D
It is currently not possible to disable the animation. We might add that for 0.9.1 however.

any update on whether an option for this has been implemented? I am not currently able to find one and I really don't like the fullscreen animations, be they fades or scales or anything else.

Yes, please make an option to totally DISABLE the full screen animation on MAC OS-X! I love VLC and have never used anything else for videos, but this anim-lag is almost unbearable!

Thanks so much.

Loyal fan.

Waking up a 5-year old thread will not do anything. Notably since now you can have 2 different fullscreen ways in preferences.

Riight... and both of them feature same issue with slow fade-in/out animations. I've been using vlc on mac for a few months now (switched to osx not more than a year ago) and this fullscreen issue is simply driving me nuts :(

The fullscreen animation takes way less than a second. I do not see why this should be too slow.

Additionally, you can easily switch videos or open new ones without leaving fullscreen at all.

OK, mea culpa. I've played with the options, switched to older full screen and it's relatively ok now.

(I don't like opening imediatelly to fullscreen, force of habbit I guess)
