Canon HG10 .MTS Plays with NO sound

howdy,

got the VLC player to play my .MTS files with the latest 0.9 version. BUT there is NO sound.

I have a Canon HG10. it records to .MTS files, as you I'm sure you know. when I open the files with VLC 0.9 they play fine there is just no sound. I have tried both on my mac pro running 10.4.11 and my macbook pro running 10.5.2 - no luck.

now if I open the same files with VLC 0.8 I get sound but only picture for the first 3 seconds ... then a bunch of gobbly wackadoo goop...
