While the source can be compiled to run in 64bit, there is no linux->windows-64bit cross-compiler. Since we create all our windows binaries under Linux, there is no way to create a 64bit-one at the moment. Sorry.

Anyway, VLC wouldn't benefit much from that, since 64bit calculations or variables are not used in its source.

Any update to a possible 64 bit Vista version coming out?

Anyways, would be nice to have a native version rather than running in compatibility mode on Vista 64bit.

Give us some Vista x64 license.

If you already have any Vista license, you can order Vista alternate media, no need to get a new license.

I don't think there is need for multiple different x64 builds, one build will work with all 64 bit Windows: Xp, Vista, 2003 server, 2008 server etc.

And there are free 2008 server trials one can get from Microsoft
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2 ... tware.aspx

turn 2008 server to workstation
http://www.win2008workstation.com/wordpress/

so AFAIK OS isn't the issue, but missing devs and compiler problems are

How about creating a X64 64bit VLC without support for directX. Only wave out audio and GDi video output.
I mean who wants directx10, it's full of userlimitations like drm + aacs + hdcp support.
Or is it impossible to make a VLC 64-bit for win x64 without the need of directx support?

Without DirectX, you won't see any video.

There isn't any DirectX 10 code in VLC. And those DRM limitations are voluntary, and they aren't even part of DirectX.

Great news. i asked a admin here to change my username (it was www_96Khz_tk).
And after the change i made a joke in the message like, i'm also waiting for a win x64 VLC.

The response gives us hope people.
It seems that their is a VLC 1.0.0 win x64 on it's way. :D
Now, who find it first , hehehe

About compiler...What compiler is used for creating MediaPlayerClassic homecinema? Because that program is true 64bit(but i prefer vlc, it has more options). MPC has not much codecs build in, but then again, it can use FFDshow64.

We prefer to use mingw, which isn't yet in 64bits.

New versions of MPC-HC 64bit & FFDshow 64bit !
Check here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=48155&p=154661#p154661 (links are updated)
And yes now we can see in MPC-HC help->about that it's written in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.

Wait for a release, please.
Do you have any idea of when ? Are we talking 3 months, 9 months, 1 year ?

What sort of support could you do with? e.g. Testing?

I ask as I've been supplied a new PC and it's only supported by the manufacturer under 64 bit Vista... they don't sell it with 32 bit. I'm keen to run as many native 64 bit applications unless forced to use 32 bit ones (e.g. Firefox / IE because Adobe have no 64 bit flash plugin yet).

Thanks.
