Video recording/saving

Postby wrapperjrracing » 18 Feb 2008 02:39

Is there any possible way to record video directly from what is displayed on my monitor? I want to record a video for a how-to tutorial, except my webcam doesn't take good pictures of my screen and doesn't record video well at all.

Yes - use:

Code: Select all

screen://
If you want to display/set it up using the GUI, go to:
File >> Open File...

And enter in the "Customize:" text box "screen://". You can then set VLC to e.g. stream to a file using the Steam output window.

Cheers, Arite.

Thank you, that will help me a lot, as well as save me a lot of time since I don't need to take screenshots one at a time. :)

I do not understand how to do the process explained by Arite: " If you want to display/set it up using the GUI, go to: File >> Open File... And enter in the "Customize:" text box "screen://". You can then set VLC to e.g. stream to a file using the Steam output window."

Is there not a file explaining a bit the working? What is GUI?

My question is: how to record a web video shown in the computer screen? I have tried several combinations but the quelity is very poor.

Thanks

Oscar
