VlC 0.9,dvb-t, BDA driver; strange TS error

Postby crocodudule » 11 Jan 2008 19:59

Hello,

If I want to see a dvb-t (tnt) chanel with vlc 0.9 on windows, using a pinnacle or dazzle stick, i have a lot of TS error, so the image and sound are very bad (freeze)
But if i run ffplay (running a vidéo) in the same time, i have no TS error, (image and sound are perfect). (it's the same if i use wmp+ffdhows codec).

Me and 2 users have the same problem:
. all on windows xp sp2, (with patch for directshow, or not, it's the same).
. all using pinnacle or dazzle stick, because they have BDA driver
. we have different graphic card (ATI, Nvidia (radeon mobility 9000, 7900GS...), with last directX and drivers.
. same problem if we change the output in vlc (D3D, OpenGL...).
. and it's the same with all build of vlc.

- The log.:
Me:
. no ffplay playing:

terminal: http://bricolodudule.site.voila.fr/priv ... ans_Dx.txt
screen: http://bricolodudule.site.voila.fr/prive2/sans_dx.jpg
. ffplay playing:

terminal: http://bricolodudule.site.voila.fr/priv ... vec_Dx.txt
screen: http://bricolodudule.site.voila.fr/prive2/avec_dx.jpg

Yep, I have the same problem and I've posted about that months ago:

We also got this answer from KenS:

The comment in the aout module says when this happens it is because the decoder is messing up the PTS but that is just a comment. Setting sout-display-delay seems to fix this but I have no clue why - nor why running another directx session fixes it.

Hi folks - I'm back online at last. I think the sout-display-delay workaround was needed before I fixed the dvb-cache option. Try :dvb-cache=300 or experiment with different values.

very interesting
It's not perfect, but it's really really better
I try, 300,600,512,1024. I think 512 it's the better value, if i add :dvb-cache=512 and --file-caching=512 it's a little better.
But playing a vidéo with ffplay or wmp+ffdshow in the same time, is still better (in fact perfect).

edit: the memory usage is lesser, it's normal? great option
