Yes, you can. Just open its Video-TS-folder with the "Video TS"-folder-option of the "open disc"-section of the open-dialog.

If you've ripped to a .ISO then you can use Virtual DAEMON to mount the ISO as a virtual DVD drive and then stream from that.

VLC can read DVD iso files so you don't need an additionnal tool.
And there even is no need to decrypt the dvd when ripping it, just a simple copy to the HD is enough because VLC will automatically crack the encryption if there is any.

Hey thats great I didn't realise VLC open an ISO image.

So that leads me on to .... is there anyway to get it to open the ISO image and play the main feature?

My big interest in VLC is streaming
