Yup it's from a game. :) There are tons of screenshots online so I just pick some and play around with them when doing one of my mockups. 8)

Separate:
Hey j-b I like the transparency option that was added but I think there's a slight glitch. Um... is the video window supposed to be transparent as well? It makes it difficult to see anything playing when using a lower opacity. :P Can the video window be left alone while only the interface is made transparent?

Is it possible to make the Transparency work on the fly and via hotkey? This way it can be adjusted perhaps to full transparency while watching a video and to whatever other level of transparency while browsing a playlist or listening to music.

It is possible. But I don't know yet how to do it, since I don't want to add a widget somewhere...

Hello ! There is now a transparency option for the Qt4 Interface. :D
I just tried vlc-0.9.0-svn-20070903-0239-win32, and turning on transparency crashes VLC for me. One second after opening, the font becomes larger and changes to Times Roman I think, then I get a "retry, abort, ignore" error.

Also, I downloaded the 9th of September nightly, and after installing, VLC crashes on opening.

Also, searching in media library crashes VLC. (At least VLC can remember the media in the library now!)

Also, some bugs I mentioned before in this thread are not fixed yet. Thats the "show playlist/hide playlist" one and the scroll bar jumping wildly when playing .avi videos one.

Let me know if you need more testing!

Did anyone get to try out the changing of a Windows skin and the minimize VLC to system tray thing yet? I've noticed that when using certain Windows Blinds skins and clicking on the VLC system tray that it only wants to appear in front of other windows instead of minimize to the tray. Could someone else test this out as well?

Anyone have Windows Blind that they could test this on? I'm currently using a Leopard skin and the minimize to system tray doesn't work.

That might be because WindowBlinds kinda overlays certain parts of the window instead of just replacing the system skin. Thus VLC can never recognize properly that its the topmost window as such because there are WindowBlinds elements on top of VLC. But I'm not sure about that.

I don't use WindowBlinds anymore but prefer the uxtheme.dll hack, and it works perfectly well with VLC.

Seems like a good explanation, I just needed to test whether this was a problem with VLC working with certain skins or the skins themselves.

I think there's a way to make the QT4 interface a little more personalized for each user. You know where I'm headed with this. 8)

=========================
[#26] Customize VLC Interface
=========================

Apparently I'm not the only one that would like a customize feature similar to Firefox's "Customize" within VLC. Instead of worrying about what buttons you should add or not add to the interface, users can easily drag-and-drop buttons from the interface to a...I guess you could call it a reserve window. If you have Firefox you could check this out by going to View -> Toolbars -> Customise. Here's what the VLC version of it could be:

Select option:
Image

VLC Customize:
Image

With this idea you could add whatever buttons you want to the interface but the user will get to choose which buttons he or she wants to display on the interface; a simple one like what aliumalik suggested or even something a little more complex, it depends on the user.

Maybe more then just
moving buttons around
or off of the interface
you could also move
some menus around too.

Image

So what might this take? Unlocking buttons and menus from the interface? Invisible grids to keep things in proportion? Hey isn't FireFox open source and GPL licensed (yes), maybe you could borrow some source code. :?: :P

Hopefully you'll see this as being a useful feature to implement. 8)

It would be cool if this could be made to work for skins as well, maybe even having the ability to switch between different styles of buttons - a round play button, a square play button, different buttons from different skins. 8)

I meant to post this earlier but I'll post it now before I forget again:

============================
[#27] Popup Info from System Tray
============================

Simple, I hope. Whenever a new song or item is played in the playlist a popup of the artist and song title will appear for a few seconds then fade out.

Image

This is useful since VLC is not in focus 100% of the time but you'll still be able to see what song or video is being played without having to move a muscle. It's also useful for the "Start VLC with only a systemtray icon" option when enabled because some people may not know where the music is coming from but this helps to give an indication as to where they can access it. Make sense?

Of course the option to turn it off in the Preferences would be nice for those who may not want this, maybe even a way to choose how many seconds before fading out. :?:

Already implemented Cloudstalker!

Preferences --> Interface --> Main Interfaces --> QT --> Show notification pop up on track change.

(I actually took like 10 minutes to find how to turn it off. It was annoying me, heehee.)

Hmm, really? I have that same option checked but it doesn't work in the slightest. My application was meant for the system tray. How does it work on yours?

It pops up with a white pop-up on the system tray icon when a song is changed. Its the same kind of pop-up as like when you plug in a USB drive. "USB Found" or whatever message. Instead its "Artist - Title".

J-b, what do you mean by simple preference? Basic preference? I had to change it to "all" to find how to turn it off. I can't find it in basic.
