VLC DOES NOT launch

VLC does not launch ; when I attempt to launch it (double clik) the VLC icon jumps on the dock for a few seconds and then disappear.

I have not seen the plist preference file, which let me belive that VLC never started.

What is strange ( and enoying) is that I had downloaded VLC because I had exactly the same problem with DVD player from apple ( 1.2 and 1.3).

Can anybody help ?

You have downloaded and try to launch VLC 0.8.6c, right?
Well, VLC no longer support the ancient Mac OS 10.2.8. Download an older VLC version, or upgrade your OS.

I'm having the same problem on Tiger 10.4.10... Any ideas what this could be?

I have downloaded the 0.8.6c and what not and I have the latest version of Mac OS X (10.4.10) and VLC does NOT work... wtf is the problem? (Yes VLC jumps a little in the dock but instead of the arrow it stops...)
To resolve th problem I have also tried to download the older version of VLC called 0.8.6b because that worked before, but nooo, it was f-ed aswell.. PLEASE HELP, I'm going bonkers!

I'm having the same problem. However, VLC 0.8.5 is working for me, so thing's aren't desperate

Still, VLC 0.8.6 does not launch; it bounces in the dock for awhile before crashing. The problem has occurred for me with VLC 0.8.6, 0.8.6b (+0.8.6c-powerpc), and 0.8.6c (+0.8.6c-powerpc). I tried deleting preferences, and running the program from its disk image, without success. I can post a log of one of the crashes if it would help. (NB: 0.8.6b-powerpc did work until recently)

FYI, I'm using a PowerBook G3 with MacOS 10.4.10.

Edit: Scratch what I said about 0.8.5 working - it does launch, but it crashes when I go into full-screen mode.

I'm using an iMac intel core duo, the first version released, if it makes any difference..

I tried using the Delete preferences in the .dmg-file, and it worked, try doing that...

I tried deleting the preferences, using the script, but that didn't help.

I then tried downgrading Quicktime to 7.1.5, using Pacifist, but that was a complete failure that borked my system.

I ended up reinstalling OSX (the coward's way out!), and VLC 0.8.6c is now working under OSX 10.4.10.
