Exporting Problems

Postby moviedude » 30 Jul 2007 08:44

I am using an Intel iMac with VLC and I encountered some exporting problems. I imported several files to test if it was just a glitch, but the problem is persisting. The files I import, I change the aspect ratio on VLC, and then try to export it to a whole bunch of other formats but all of them turned out exactly with the same aspect ratio of the original file. After I change the aspect ratio on VLC, I see that the window open has the correct aspect ratio I want and everything looks good....but after exporting, it has the original file's aspect ratio. I tried this after deinterlacing video and exporting to a different format, but the exported file was still interlaced and it was like the original file in every way. Why does VLC not make the changes to the exported file?

I think aspect ratio is just a video output setting, not a codec setting

I don't know if/how you can change the aspect ratio while transcoding

OK...Well I was just wondering if it was possible to change aspect ratio and keep that on the exported file. Even if I could deinterlace the video and exported the deinterlaced version, it would be great. Is this possible?

I'm having the very same problem, on a MacPro (Intel) ? Exported a long line of movies and they all came out tall and narrow stretched.

....what is going on with VLC here?

Right now I'm converting 15GB of 911 News footage to get more room on my harddrives. I'm betting the image can be stretched back with another program...? ...right?

Hello all

I'm new to VLC, subtitling:

I was able to bring in a .sub file and the corresponding .avi file. It played back fine in VLC. What can I do to "flatten", "export" both to one file for viewing in QT or vlc or even make a DVD?

For some reason I never got an email notification saying that someone had made a new post in this thread

I don't know how to export with subtitles, I didn't realize this was the center of the question in your personal message.

All I know is that you go to the File menu - choose streaming / exporting wizard and go from there.

Can you make it work?
