minimize number of threads

what exactly does this? should i enable it to save resources, or what?

VLC usually uses a seperate thread for almost any part of the proces...
with --minimize-threads VLC spawns less threads which can be good or bad depending on the situation (honestly, not a clue :) when what where )

You shouldn't have to touch this option. --minimize-threads is already enabled by default for the cases where it doesn't hurt (like streaming to a file). For most cases this option will hurt performance (especially video playing).
