Watching a folder for vidoes?

Postby englishmen » 16 Mar 2007 15:21

I use VLC on my htpc and was wondering if its possible for VLC to watch a folder for videos and display those videos in the play list. This way i wont have to browse to the media files, just open VLC then open the play list.

Thanks for any info.

Operating System: It's...blue screen
Location: Heaven? No no. What's that other place that starts with an "H"? Oh yes: Home. ^_^

I believe that VLC v0.9.0 will be able to do what you want, unless I misunderstand what you’re saying. It will have a media library that will load all of you’re music and videos files, and it will open up whenever VLC is launched.

I guess it was moved because this is not currently available, and so it was assumed to be a feature request, but you know what they say when you assume…ah…umm... :P

Although it’s still under development you could give 0.9.0 a try in one of the nightly builds: http://nightlies.videolan.org./

It would be best to get the zipped version for testing purposes.
