How to convert an .MPG movie made on a PC to the Mac

Postby DesertVLC » 04 Feb 2007 00:50

Hi, I received an MPG slideshow/movie from a friend who uses a PC and windows XP. I am using an Intel mac running 10.4.8. I could not open the slideshow until I downloaded VLC (thank you). But I want to convert the slideshow to something that can be opened by my other Mac software (QT Pro, iPhoto, iMovie or whatever). So far I have tried a lot of combinations using the streaming wizard without success. I was able to get the music sound track to convert but not the video. Any one have any ideas? Thank you!

Could it be that the video is a MPEG-2 file? If yes then QT Pro etc. needs the separate MPEG-2 Playback Component (costs money).
