I have a problem with the subtitles.
I run a movie then klick add subtile (track 1)
then the subtitle doesen't show. I wait 5 mins ohhh now it show one raw and nothing more then i wait 5 min and so on...
what could the problem be? the subtitle lang is swedish. but the funny is it has worked before and i haven't change a option and now it's not working enymore :( what could the problem be?
and i have allso done:
-uninstall VLC
-Install it again

som kina info:
im using win xp i have a fast machin. my grapich drivers is up to date.
(im using IE7 and media player 11 could that have an effect?)

EDIT:
I installed an old verision of VLC 0.8.2 i think and tried to run a moive and use the subtitle and it worked yust fine =) i think it's a bug or something in 0.8.5 that it's not reading the text encoding right by the defult cuz it working fine in 0.8.2 to run the sub with the encoding defult but it's not working in 0.8.5 eny ideas?

I have the same problem

So it could be a bug in 0.8.5, but it works on english subs but not on swedish ..

So it is most likely something with the swedish language that VLC does not recognise

If anybody have a solution please let me know

found a solution

The default for the Latin 1 character set (ISO-8859-1) in Windows should never have been changed. It wasn't for the Mac version. The system was expanded for 0.8.5 to handle more languages, but there are still problems with Hebrew and Arabic. :) Even this according to a few users is resolvable by using a unicode Windows font.

Yepp but i mean that in 0.8.2 VLC in defult displays and choose the Latin 1, but in VLC 0.8.5 it dosen't work with the defult cuz the defult is Latin 1 and the new VLC doesn't choose it as defult so u need to manually chosse the latin 1. But in VLC 0.8.2 it's selected by defult.

I think that's what I said. :? This isn't a bug, It's a known issue with an easy resolve. Exists only in the Windows version for VLC 0.8.5 :)

Really about the only thing that wasn't covered here is some of the more difficult languages like Hebrew or Arabic. Even these have been resolved by users choosing a Unicode font for the freetype2 font engine within VLC.

I believe that was covered too! One of the devs decided to make a change in Windows only!

I'm sure it was done just to make problems for people to ask questions about. :P
